LPG Boiler Grants 2017
Government ECO Scheme Grants are available to replace faulty LPG Boilers for homeowners and tenants who receive certain State Benefits or Tax Credits.
To qualify for the LPG Boiler Grants 2017 initiative you must satisfy all 3 of the following conditions:
1. YOUR HOME
You must live in your own home OR in one which you rent from a private landlord. Different rules apply to council tenants and housing association tenants.
2. YOUR STATE BENEFITS OR TAX CREDITS
You must receive at least one of the following:
- Guaranteed Pension Credit (Savings Credit and ordinary State Pension do NOT qualify on their own).
- Child Tax Credit*
- Working Tax Credit*
- Universal Credit*
- Income Support
- Income-Related Employment and Support Allowance
- Income-Based Job Seeker’s Allowance
* Maximum household income thresholds apply to these Tax Credits.
3. Your LPG Boiler
You must have a LPG central heating boiler installed in your home which is either:
- Rated C or below for efficiency AND faulty, OR
- Rated A or B for efficiency, is faulty AND would cost more to repair than to replace.

LPG Boiler Grants 2017 from the Government's ECO Scheme
LPG Boiler Grants 2017 are funded by the Affordable Warmth Scheme which is part of the Government’s ECO Initiative.
Levies are placed on every home’s electricity bill and the money collected is diverted into an ECO Fund. LPG Boiler Grants are awarded from this fund to homeowners and tenants who receive certain State Benefits and who have a faulty LPG boiler in their home but cannot afford to replace it.
New ECO Funding for LPG Boiler Grants 2017 commenced on 1st April 2017 and the scheme is initially scheduled to run for 18 months.
Beyond the LPG Boiler Grants 2017 Initiative
During the first 18 months of the LPG Boiler Grants 2017 Initiative a consultation will take place to decide what will be introduced after the initial transitional period.
The Government wants to focus more on dealing with the problems of fuel poverty and the scheme may be changed to reflect that aim.
It is therefore very important that householders who meet the current qualifying criteria for the LPG Boiler Grants 2017 Initiative should apply now. This is because if the qualifying criteria changes (as it did on 1st April 2017) householders who qualify for an LPG boiler grant now, may not do so if the rules change.
