ECO Scheme Heating and Insulation Grants

Jim Moore, Vaillant Group Managing Director for Western Europe has praised Coronation Street for the storyline which saw Fiz fighting for her life after having her boiler repaired by her co-star character – Tyrone, who is not a qualified gas engineer.  Vaillant is a manufacturer of energy efficient central heating boilers and only gas engineers who are registered with Gas Safe are legally allowed to work on gas appliances.

Coronation Street character Fiz suffered from carbon monoxide poisoning as a result of a botched repair of her central heating boiler and although the storyline entertained millions of viewers, Mr. Moore ‘believes it will have positive safety implications’.

In the present economic climate householders are putting off important maintenance work on gas appliances or having unqualified engineers carry out the work but help could be available with the Government’s Affordable Warmth Obligation which covers the cost of a new energy efficient central heating boiler for certain households.  For private householders who receive certain state benefits and who have an inefficient, faulty central heating boiler, Affordable Warmth may provide a new, energy efficient and free boiler.

The Vaillant Group, which owns the Vaillant and Glow-worm brands, manufactures energy efficient central heating boilers which are available if a particular household qualifies under the Affordable Warmth Obligation.
