Boiler Grants and Universal Credit

Boiler Grants and Universal Credit – Home owners who receive Universal Credit may qualify for Boiler Grants to replace broken mains gas boilers.

Or, if your home has never had a central heating system installed before, home owners and private tenants who receive Universal Credit may qualify for a Central Heating Grant to help install central heating.

If you have a broken mains gas boiler OR your home has never had central heating before AND you expect to receive Universal Credit for a short period of time – you should apply immediately.

If you return to work after the Coronavirus restrictions are removed and you stop receiving Universal Credit, you will no longer qualify for boiler grants or central heating grants.

Boiler Grants and Universal Credit since the the Coronavirus outbreak.

More than one million householders have applied for Universal Credit after seeing a drop in income caused by the lockdown due to Coronavirus.

Every home owner who receives Universal Credit, or one of the other qualifying benefits, can apply for a Boiler Grant to replace their broken mains gas boiler*.

If your home has never had a central heating system installed before, recipients of Universal Credit can apply for a First Time Central Heating Grant to help install central heating. This applies to both home owners and tenants who rent their home from a private landlord.

*To qualify for a boiler grant you may need to have an insulation measure installed at the same time.

Many more home owners are claiming Universal Credit due to a loss of income caused by the Coronavirus pandemic.

Restrictions on movement introduced by Boris Johnson’s Government mean that many people no longer earn as much as they are used to earning. This has resulted in many households receiving Universal Credit to help get through this period.

If you have a broken mains gas boiler and you now receive Universal Credit you may qualify for a Government ECO Scheme boiler grant to help replace it.

There is no maximum household income threshold anymore, simply, if you receive Universal Credit and you have a broken mains gas boiler, you will qualify for a boiler grant to replace it.

In some cases, you may need to have insulation installed in your home at the same time. But this will make your new A rated mains gas boiler even more efficient at heating your home.
