About ECO Scheme 2018
ECO Scheme 2018 is a government scheme which aims to reduce carbon dioxide emissions from domestic properties and to tackle fuel poverty.
To achieve this, grants are awarded to low income households to replace faulty and inefficient electric storage heaters and boilers. Grants are also available to install cavity wall insulation in homes which have never had any installed. And also to install loft insulation in homes with less than 100 mm of insulation.
ECO started in 2013 and in its current phase, ECO Scheme 2018 will end on 30th September 2018. However, the government has indicated that it may continue after that with a greater focus on tackling fuel poverty.
ECO places a legal obligation on large energy suppliers to deliver energy efficiency measures to householders in Britain
